How can I attend one of the required BEST Plus training workshops?

There are several ways to attend a training workshop in your area:

• Contact the Center for Applied Linguistics to arrange a training workshop at your location. For further details, visit the BEST Plus training page.
• Attend a state-sponsored training in your area. A list of states with certified BEST Plus trainers is available on our training page.

What does a training workshop include?

During the 6-hour training workshop, you will learn about the background of BEST Plus, learn how to administer and score the test, and practice administering and scoring BEST Plus.

Once I am trained, can I train others in my state or program to administer the test?

No. Only a certified trainer can train individuals to become BEST Plus test administrators. CAL does sponsor a trainer certification program. Once an individual successfully complete this program, they are authorized to train others in their state to administer BEST Plus. If you are interested in becoming a certified trainer, contact BEST Plus at bptraining@cal.org or call 1-866-845-BEST (2378).

Do you offer regional training workshops?

The Center for Applied Linguistics does offer regional training workshops on a periodic basis. These trainings are held in cities across the country and participants are invited to attend for a flat fee of $200 which includes all the training materials.
