Speaker Biography
LETICIA MARTINEZ (Ph.D., The University of Texas at Austin, 2006) is currently the CREATE project director at the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches Content Literacy for Multilingual Learners in the Maters of Arts in Teaching program at St. Edward's University in Austin. Her professional experience includes elementary and secondary teaching in Reading, Language Arts, and English as a Second Language. Her research interests include adolescent English language learners, content literacy, and qualitative research of Latina youth in schools.
Dr. Martinez presented How Peer Pairing with Vocabulary and Concept Instruction Enhances Content Learning in Social Studies with English Language Learners at the 2008 CREATE Conference.
