School Programs and Instructional Approaches for Working with Immigrant Students
Immigrant students in secondary school face a number of challenges as they make the transition into and through schooling in the United States. We discussed the qualities of schools and instructional approaches that support these students and help them succeed. Programs and instructional approaches included ways to develop students' language and literacy skills and make academic content challenging, interesting, and accessible. There was time for discussion, and handouts were available.
