Using Cognates to Develop Academic Language in Dual Language Programs
Participants will expand their knowledge of academic language and how cognate awareness can play a foundational role in academic achievement and content area knowledge. Topics include types of academic language, the role of cognates in language acquisition, Spanish/English cognates by content area and grade level standards, cognates with multiple meanings and false cognates.
