Developing Instructor Proficiency in Oral Language Assessment

Speaking is a crucial part of the language curriculum, and assessing student progress can be particularly daunting for language instructors (Luoma, 2004). For instructors of Arabic, including both Modern Standard and dialects, there are few resources available in language assessment. With these needs, and the needs of other less commonly taught languages in mind, CAL has developed a number of resources related to language assessment. This presentation focused on three resources and professional development options for Arabic instructors.
