Teaching L2 Reading to Secondary ELLs When L1 Instruction is Not an Option

Although the presenter believes that beginning readers not literate in their first languages should receive instruction in the primary language, this is not always possible. This workshop provided grade 6-12 educators insights and strategies for teaching reading to ELLs while, simultaneously, affirming the students heritage languages and cultures.
