Methodology for the Development of Specifications for an Oral Proficiency Test
This paper describes the development of a set of specifications for a semi-direct oral proficiency test through reverse engineering of an existing test. The development of clear specifications will facilitate the expeditious development of additional tests in various languages, including less commonly taught languages. Development of specifications and procedures for task writing, content and cultural review, and organization of final tasks in a task bank for an operational test are described.
