ONPAR: Harnessing Computer Capabilities So Els and Other Students Can Demonstrate Their Knowledge about Challenging Content
The ONPAR projects are developing prototype tasks for next-generation, computer-interactive science and mathematics assessments. ONPAR harnesses the dynamic capabilities of computers to introduce innovations at all stages of cognitive processing, while being sensitive to the varying literacy capabilities of students. The symposium will a) demonstrate ONPAR tasks emphasizing the approach’s fundamentals, and the way in which they are used to effectively measure high cognitive abilities in science and mathematics, b) report findings from the randomized science and mathematics studies, and early trials, and c) discuss the implications for these kinds of products in the wider assessment and PD markets.
