Sheltered Instruction in Two-Way Immersion Classrooms: Two-Way SIOP Model
The SIOP Model, a research-based framework for sheltered instruction, has been modified for and used in Two-way Immersion (TWI) classrooms. The presenter will provide an overview of the Two Way SIOP Model, demonstrate learner activities used in TWI classrooms, and provide resources for leveraging content standards and language functions in both languages.

Playwriting: The Bridge Connecting Creativity & Writing Proficiency for English Language Learners
Throughout the past ten years, the Manhattan Theater Club playwriting program has introduced English Language Learners to purposeful, authentic writing. This workshop will focus on the format used to develop and implement the program; the SIOP unit plan utilized; the process of introducing playwriting to English Language Learners, and will showcase samples of student work.
