Opening Lecture: Language Immersion: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
The presenters will provide a historical perspective on forty years of immersion in the U.S. and then will discuss where the current immersion programs are located. They will discuss best practices in the early days, along with the main research questions. Next, they will compare growth in immersion education to non-immersion language programs. Lastly, they will talk about the significant changes that have taken place over the years in our understanding of best practices in teaching immersion.
