Test Administrator Training Options
Several training options are available to meet the diverse needs of adult English language programs.

Option 1:
Contract with CAL directly to host a training workshop at your location
Experienced BEST Plus trainers from CAL can conduct a training workshop at your location. CAL has experience working with programs to determine the number of test administrators that should be trained to meet the program needs.
Prices are based on the number of workshop participants.

Option 2: Attend a regional workshop
CAL hosts regional training workshops in areas where there is not a state BEST Plus training partner. Please contact 1-866-845-2378 or email to be notified when a regional training is scheduled.
Option 3: Attend a training workshop hosted by a state training partner
These states have certified BEST Plus trainers who periodically offer BEST Plus test administrator training. (Pricing and schedules are determined by state training partners)

Option 4: Become a certified BEST Plus Trainer
Organizations that anticipate the need to train test administrators on a regular basis are encouraged to have one or more individuals become certified as BEST Plus trainers. Existing test adminsitrators may submit an application to become a BEST Plus trainer. The trainer certification process includes observing a training, videotaping two administrations of BEST Plus, successfully completing a scoring activity, and conducting a training workshop with an experienced BEST Plus trainer. The initial cost of becoming a certified BEST Plus trainer is $500. All trainers are required to be recertified every two years.
