Refugees from Burma in Thailand and Malaysia

The following resources are designed to assist with the resettlement and adjustment of refugees from Burma, including Burmans, Chin, Karen, Karenni, and Rohingya.


Refugee Perspectives

Refugees from Burma in the United States: This 22-minute PRM-funded video features interviews with refugees from Burma (of various ethnicities), speaking about matters that affect their daily life.

Refugee Seniors in the United States

This 11-minute ORR-funded video includes interviews with a refugee senior from Burma, as well as other refugee seniors. See below the video for related materials, including the video script and questions for consideration, in English, Burmese, Karen, additional translations, and lesson plans for use with service providers and refugees.

A copy of this resettlement guidebook
is given to all refugees overseas once they have been approved for resettlement to the U.S. Wherever possible, refugees also receive a
face-to-face orientation or briefing conducted by refugee processing or U.S. Embassy staff. The guidebook is intended to give refugees information about fundamental aspects of life in the United States.
