Refugees from Burma

The International Organization for Migration's Southeast Asia CO Program provided cultural orientation to refugees from Burma, largely in camps in Thailand and in the urban environment of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The CO participants in Thailand were generally of the Karen ethnicity, although numerous Burmese Muslims and small numbers of other ethnic groups, were also served by the program. Participants in Kuala Lumpur were almost entirely of the Chin ethnicity. The profile of each site includes sections on caseload, CO classes, general environment for CO attendees, and considerations for domestic resettlement agencies.
