Underline the COMMUNITY SERVICES that she and her family used. We are very thankful for all the help we received when we first arrived in the United States. Within the first week, our caseworker helped us apply for RMA, so we all had health insurance. In our neighborhood, there were many other families from all over the world. The man next door introduced me to the police officer that often patrols our neighborhood at night. The officer explained that she is available to help and for emergencies, we should call 911. My husband and I began looking for work, while our young children started going to the public school. A community church donated clothing and school supplies for our children. A friend from the church explained that we could buy other second hand items from a helping organization called The Salvation Army. Once my husband found work, he started taking computer classes offered at the local library. He was very busy with work and class, but he was serious about succeeding in the United States and becoming self-sufficient. What other COMMUNITY SERVICES are available? |
