CAL and Santillana USA Partner to Promote Dual Language Education in the U.S.

The Center for Applied Linguistics is pleased to announce our partnership with Santillana USA to focus on a variety of activities related to dual language education in the United States. Our first collaboration will include joint professional development services utilizing the widely-used Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education.

CAL and Santillana will also sponsor the National Dual Language Forum (NDLF) website. CAL’s Board of Trustees has directed CAL, as part of its mission enhancement activities, to establish the NDLF to foster collaboration among key stakeholders in the field and help inform the public about the benefits of dual language education. The NDLF website will provide links to many of CAL’s dual language resources and will serve as a portal to resources from a wide range of organizations dedicated to promoting dual language education.

Featured CAL Institute: Fostering Spanish Language and Literacy Development

Each two-day Spanish Literacy institute is designed to provide participants with effective methodologies for teaching academic language and literacy in Spanish to students in a wide variety of K-8 educational setting where Spanish is the language of instruction. Classroom practices are framed by an understanding of Spanish language arts standards and linguistic features in Spanish.
