New Dual Language Online Course
Introduction to Dual Language Education: Key Features and Best Practices
A new online self-paced course from CAL and Santillana USA

This new interactive, self-paced online course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to dual language education with a focus on the Three Pillars of Dual Language Education used by successful programs.

Throughout the course, participants have opportunities to reflect upon and practice new learning, self-assess through quizzes; view real-world examples through video demonstration; and apply lessons learned through applicable wrap-up activities.

José Viana Named OELA Assistant Deputy Secretary and Director

On April 12, 2017, José Viana was named assistant deputy secretary of the Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA). Viana began his career as an elementary school teacher for English language learners. Most recently he served as an administrator of the Migrant Education Program for North Carolina’s Department of Public Instruction.
