The geographical area of South Asia, which includes the Indian subcontinent and surrounding countries, is rich in linguistic and cultural diversity. The South Asian Web pages were created to provide a focus on languages from this area and U.S. programs. Led by Alliance Language Representative, Dr. Surendra Gambhir, the Alliance will continue to expand information about South Asian languages and work to develop a network for those interested in sharing information.

South Asian Languages K-12 Research Study Funded

Anup Mahajan of National Capital Language Resource Center announces the award of an International Research and Studies grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The South Asian Languages K-12 Research Study, to be called DesiLearn, is designed to document and describe all K-12 programs for the following languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Marathi, Nepali, Panjabi, Sinhala, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. We are looking for your help in identifying the heritage programs for these languages in the US.
