Regards Croisés: Crossing Perspectives on Bilingualism

11:30am - 1:00pm
Presented at: Living With Two Languages: The Advantage of Being Bilingual

This panel discussion will focus on some of the following questions: If bilingualism is good, is trilingual or multilingual better? Should parents speak their mother tongue at home? Will children learn another language from watching tv? Should parents stop speaking their first language at home and speak only English (even if their English is not very good)? What is the best way that schools have found to develop bilingualism in children? What are the most common models of bilingual education found in North America and in Europe? What can the U.S. and France learn from other countries about developing a bilingual citizenry?
