Mediating Language Acquisition: The Role of Peer Interaction in Dual Language Classrooms

Though peer scaffolding of oral language is posited as an essential instructional component in dual language (DL) classrooms, a relatively small research base exists towards providing guidance to teachers. Thus, a literature review explores how peer interaction in DL classrooms promotes linguistic mediation. Implications for future research will be addressed.
