The Role of U.S./Canadian Settlement Policy on Language Learning (poster)

12:30 - 1:45pm EDT
Presented at: TESOL 2015

Language proficiency in the language of the destination country is one of the most significant factors of immigrant integration. This study examines the overall differences in U.S. and Canadian settlement policy, using the provision of language courses as an example of the ways immigrants are integrated into the host society.

The poster visuals and artifacts will include the survey itself, demographic graphs on U.S. and Canadian immigrant resettlement, quotes from the participants, and a chart based on the findings from this study, including numbers of formal and informal facilitators cited by each participant.
