A growing number of students from diverse linguistic/cultural backgrounds demonstrate unique learning needs as they acquire a new language, and meet the standards. The RTI/MTSS process is designed to assist in the identification of students needing additional support. Successful implementation is key to ensuring that ELs receive appropriate intervention to maximize their academic achievement and language acquisition and are not disproportionately identified for special education.
This workshop presents an overview of the process as it relates to students from diverse linguistic/cultural backgrounds as they acquire a English and succeed academically. It will provide a foundation for providing support in the classroom for students in Tiers 1, 2, and 3.
