85 Languages Spoken in Buffalo Schools as 'New Americans' Enter Classrooms

A New York school district is encouraging refugee and immigrant students who are new arrivals in the US to speak their first language. Abdi Yakub, one of six language specialists hired by Buffalo Public Schools, says preserving the students' native tongue helps them stay connected to their families, while helping them learn other subjects.
