The 2017 Dora Johnson Awards will provide funding up to $1,000 for 15 K-12 Arabic language educators to support attendance at the 2017 ACTFL Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. The Awards are named for the late Dora Johnson, a lifelong supporter of Arabic language education who worked to increase the Arabic presence at ACTFL.
- Applicants must be current K-12 Arabic teachers.
- Applicants must be first-time ACTFL attendees or applicants must be first-time presenters.
- Previous ACTFL attendees, who have not previously received a Dora Johnson Award, will be considered on a case by case basis, however, preference will be given to first-time attendees or presenters.
Deadline to apply is September 15, 2017.

Dora Johnson was a staff member at the Center for Applied Linguistics for 45 years and was renowned for her knowledge of the cultures of the world, her databank of resources for teaching their languages, and her passion for making that information available and accessible to all who can use it.
