Review of the Arlington County High School Foreign Language Program
CAL worked with Arlington County Public Schools (ACPS) during the first year of its two-year self-evaluation of foreign language programs. The first year of the review focused on attainment of speaking proficiency by high school students studying French and Spanish as a foreign language at Level III and Spanish for Fluent Speakers at level III. To measure student oral proficiency, ACPS selected CAL's Simulated Oral Proficiency Interview (SOPI) to measure student oral proficiency. The SOPI is a semi-direct, standard approach to oral proficiency measurement.
