CAL is supporting English as a second language (ESL) teachers’ efforts to improve learners’ achievement through the national CAELA Network.
The CAELA Network will help states increase their capacity to provide more effective professional development to those who teach adult English language learners.
Outcomes and Products
- A searchable repository of research-based information on adult English language acquisition
- The publication of resources, including an online ESL Basics course, topical briefs, and quarterly newsletters for use by teachers and professional developers
- A Framework for quality professional development that states can use to enhance English language instruction for adult learners
- Training and technical assistance to twelve states, based on the Framework
