English language learners face the dual challenges of mastering English and acquiring the academic skills and knowledge needed for educational success. Educating English Language Learners, prepared under the auspices of the Center for Research on Education, Diversity and Excellence (CREDE), provides an extensive review of the research concerning the learning processes and outcomes of English language learners in U.S. schools, from prekindergarten through Grade 12.
