This professional development program is appropriate for teachers in a variety of programs: mainstream classes, self-contained ESL classes, bilingual programs, and preservice education. The complete program provides 45 hours of professional development (40 in-class hours and 5 hours of structured outside assignments), but it can easily be adapted to meet local needs and timeframes. The contents include chapters on reading, first and second language acquisition, culture, writing, math, integrated language and content instruction, assessment, family involvement, and additional resources. 2000.
