Scoring the BEST Literacy Skills Section

Please note that the BEST Literacy Skills Section and BEST Literacy use different conversion tables to convert raw scores into scale scores.

When scoring the BEST Literacy Skills Section Form C, scorers must use the conversion table from the BEST Test Manual published in 1984 and 1987. (Form B does not require a conversion table as its raw scores are the same as its scale scores.)

For National Reporting System (NRS) accountability reporting purposes, once the scale score is determined, it must be interpreted within the NRS ESL Educational Functioning Levels.
