Conclusion

Successful reading draws on a vast understanding about the structure of English and the conventions for written English. English language learners and young native English speakers who are still acquiring their first language simply don't have all of this knowledge about English yet. And because so much of what we know about language is unconscious, teachers may find it difficult to understand why reading can be so hard for their students.   next
