This poster describes the development of a rubric and scoring descriptors for a computerized assessment of academic English language proficiency for students in U.S. grades 1-12. In this project, a single rubric was developed to score the oral performance of students ranging in age from approximately 7-18 years old. Researchers faced the challenge of creating a single scale that would be interpreted in relation to the cognitive development of examinees.
