Catherine (Cara) Richards-Tutor (Ph.D. in Special Education, Disabilities and Risk Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara) is an associate professor in the special education program at California State University, Long Beach. Her research and publications focus on assessment and interventions for English learners. Currently, Dr. Richards-Tutor serves as a Co-PI for CREATE, Study #3 with Drs. Echevarria and Short as well as Co-PI for Project EQALS, which examines the impact of professional development in algebra for low performing students, including English learners and students with disabilities. In addition, Dr. Richards-Tutor is working with colleagues to examine the reliability and validity of math curriculum-based measures and behavior screenings for English learners.
