Associate Director of PreK12 Professional Development EL Programs, Center for Applied Linguistics

Jennifer Himmel (M.A., University of Hawaii at Manoa) is the Associate Director of PreK-12 Professional Development EL Programs at the Center for Applied Linguistics where she develops and delivers services designed to improve instruction for English learners. She has served as a curriculum developer and research associate for the federally-funded CREATE research center, a 6-year experimental study examining the impact of the SIOP Model on science achievement and language learning, and as a language testing specialist for the WIDA ACCESS for ELLsĀ® language proficiency test. She taught English as a second/foreign language in Hawaii, Connecticut, Virginia, and Japan.
