Promoting Spanish Language Development for Emergent Bilinguals

BEST Plus 2.0 Launches July 1, 2016

CAL will launch BEST Plus 2.0 on July 1, 2016 to coincide with the new program year. CAL is pleased to offer a discount on the BEST Plus 2.0 Test Administrator Guides (TAG) from May 16 - December 31, 2016 to help our customers who wish to order additional copies for their current trained test administrators.

In addition, an update to CAL’s Adult ESL Assessments website is set to launch on June 24, 2016. The revamped website will provide simplified navigation and easier access to important information for users of BEST Plus and BEST Literacy.

Based on decades of research on how language is learned and extensive experience in working with educators to help language learners succeed, CAL is pleased to offer these self-paced courses designed to enhance educator knowledge. The cost is affordable and CAL can also offers tiered pricing to schools and districts who wish to have groups of teachers participate in our online courses.

Summary Report Available: Symposium on Language and the Sustainable Development Goals

The Study Group on Language and the United Nations – an independent group of scholars and practitioners on matters related to language – convened a symposium on Language and the Sustainable Development Goals in April, 2016. Its goal was to examine the importance of issues of language in the formulation, implementation, and successful completion of the Goals.

What's Different About Teaching Reading to Students Learning English?

This resource provides teacher trainers and other educators with a research-based curriculum to guide the professional development of classroom and ESL teachers who teach literacy skills and reading comprehension in classes where some or all of the students are English learners.
