RTI/MTSS Implementation: Identifying & Supporting English Learner Academic Achievement

Please consult the event program for date, time and location.

Presented at: NABE 2020

When linguistically diverse students struggle academically, it is schools’ responsibility to assess whether it is due to language differences or disability. Successful implementation of RTI/MTSS is key to ensuring that ELs receive appropriate intervention to maximize their academic achievement and language acquisition.

During this workshop participants will explore issues that challenge the differentiation between learning difficulties and SLA issues, examine the steps of the RTI and MTSS that assist in providing appropriate interventions prior to the referral process, and review instructional practices that support teachers’ implementation of RTI/MTSS plans in the classroom for students needing Tier 1, 2, and 3 interventions.
