This issue of SIOP Bulletin explores the theme of developing and sustaining a long term SIOP professional development initiative, illustrating how the SIOP Model can be used to serve a variety of professional development needs.
Content Area SIOP Workshops
Based on requests by districts and schools, CAL has developed SIOP workshops designed for specific groups of participants. Examples of such workshops include sessions for math, social studies and science teachers, SIOP refresher workshops, SIOP for elementary and secondary teachers, SIOP peer coaching workshops, and SIOP Training of Trainer workshops. In the recent years, content area workshops, i.e. the ones focused on math, language arts, science, and social studies, have gained increasing popularity among our SIOP clients. If you have any questions about setting up a content workshop series in your school or school district, please contact us at siop@cal.org.
