Theme Generators

April 2026

The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) is pleased to announce an upcoming opportunity for educators to be a part of the development of WIDA ACCESS. Educators are invited to serve as Theme Generators for WIDA ACCESS test items during April 10-April 22, 2026.

Who can participate?

Any educator who has experience working with students in grades 1–12 in a WIDA-member state during the previous two years is invited to participate.

What will educators do?

Theme Generators will:

  • Complete a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
  • Watch a tutorial video to understand what types of themes can be used on WIDA ACCESS
  • Brainstorm theme ideas for assigned grade-level clusters and content areas and enter them into a survey form (asynchronous work).
  • Receive $40 compensation for each survey completed.

I’m interested! What should I do?

Complete an application at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HDDCBK3

In the application, you will be asked to provide:

  • Your contact information
  • Information about your teaching expertise
  • Information about your availability
