Kym Taylor, PhD, is the Manager of Listening Test Development for the WIDA suite of English language proficiency assessments. She has over fifteen years of experience in second language research, instruction, and assessment and has served as an educator and administrator for several elementary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions in the United States and Canada. Before joining CAL, she served as Chief Director of an international English proficiency testing company, overseeing the content development and research teams.
Kym earned her PhD in Education with an applied linguistics focus and MA in Applied Linguistics, both from Concordia University in Montreal. She also holds a BA in English Literature with a French minor from SUNY Plattsburgh. Her research interests include language assessment, second language education, generative AI, language variation and change, social attitudes toward multilingual learners, social network analysis, and other sociolinguistic aspects of second language acquisition.
