Megan Welch is the Manager for Rater Training at CAL, overseeing the development of rater training materials and scoring guidance for the Speaking and Writing domains of the WIDA suite of assessments. She joined CAL in 2023 as a Language Testing Specialist, developing test content for all domains with a focus on the lower grades.

Megan’s work is informed by her prior experience as an elementary ML teacher, third grade newcomer teacher, and language acquisition coach in Massachusetts. Her professional interests include newcomer instruction for low-incidence languages, formative assessment of expressive language, and literacy development for MLs with interrupted or limited education. She holds an M.Ed. in English as a Second Language, Pre-K-6, and a B.A. in Communications.
