Student Oral Proficiency Assessment (SOPA) Workshop for PK-8 Mandarin Chinese Teachers!

The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) and the Assessment and Evaluation Language Resource Center (AELRC) are excited to announce their upcoming Student Oral Proficiency Assessment (SOPA) workshop for PK-8 Mandarin Chinese teachers!

This free, virtual professional development opportunity will take place on Friday, June 13, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET.

The workshop’s purpose is to provide you with a basic understanding of the SOPA, a paired oral interview assessment tool that measures speaking and listening performance using a rating scale based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.

Please complete the brief application form by May 30 if you are interested in participating.

Please note that completing the application form does not guarantee participation in the workshop. Attendance will be capped at the first 10 eligible participants. We will contact you in early June to let you know if you have been accepted.

If you are not personally available, please share this announcement with other teachers who may be interested in participating in the workshop. If you have any questions, please contact jbushton@cal.org.

Thank you, and we hope to see you there!
