Impact Sample Response – Elementary

Concerns & considerations:

  • Would be high stakes with possible negative impact on kids who have studied for years but don’t pass
  • Need to consider assessment in planning instruction
  • Worries about academic freedom/narrowed curriculum
  • Could raise the school district’s profile if students perform well
  • Could put a lot of stress on instructors to make sure that their students pass the test
  • Parents/stakeholders would be very invested in seeing their kids pass the test
  • Using a performance-based speaking test might encourage classes to focus on speaking skills
