Imagine you were in Jamila’s position. What would you do? How would you address the problem described in this situation?
- In this situation, I would provide opportunities for instructors to share and reflect on their assessment plans as a group and then collaborate on making changes that will improve articulation across the program. I would create a digital space where instructors could share their assessment tasks and tools for evaluating student performance, including rubrics, and then work with them to create aligned versions of these materials for each course level. Finally, I would build in time for additional reviews of the department’s assessment plans and materials and continue to have conversations about articulation with instructors in future semesters.
